NEPO brand Maintenance Free Dry-Charge AGM batteries ship with their electrolyte (acid) in a separate container in the box. Once the acid is added by the end user there is never any need to open the battery again or add any water. The battery becomes maintenance free.
The advantage to this is the shelf life of the battery is dramatically lengthened and can be stored for up to 18 months prior to activation. Once the battery is activated by adding the electrolyte it starts as a factory fresh battery would.
