Why Antigravity is the Upgrade Your Battery Tray Deserves

Antigravity batteries cut the weight of a traditional lead-acid battery by 60 to 80 percent — and that number means something whether you're racing, riding daily, or just tired of a dead battery leaving you stranded. Their lithium batteries for motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, cars, boats, and RVs deliver more cranking amps than the lead-acid battery they replace, start faster in cold conditions, and last three to five times longer. The RE-START series adds a built-in emergency jump-start system: if the battery drains from a parasitic draw or a forgotten light, press the red button and get one more start to get you home. No jumper cables. No roadside assist. No problem.

Beyond the RE-START line, Antigravity makes automotive Group-size batteries for trucks and performance cars (Groups 24 through 49), the compact Micro-Start jump packs that fit in your jacket pocket, and the SC-4 Super-Charger to keep everything properly topped off. Every battery includes a Battery Management System that monitors voltage, temperature, and cell balance — which is why these batteries survive years of use that would kill a standard lead-acid unit. Founded in 2010 in Clearwater, Florida, Antigravity built its reputation on powersports performance and expanded to cover every application where weight, reliability, and long life matter.

BMS Full — over-discharge, over-charge, thermal, cell balance
RE-START Yes — press button for emergency start
Accessories OK? Yes — choose HD for high-draw builds

High-Demand Applications

RE-START HD

Heavy Duty — More Capacity

Best for Adventure bikes, modified builds, performance cars
Fitment Same OEM footprint — larger internal cell pack
BMS Full — same as RS with extra capacity
RE-START Yes — extended reserve for bigger engines
Accessories OK? Yes — designed for high-draw setups

Racing & Ultralight

Small Case

Universal Fit — Max Power-to-Weight

Best for Dirt bikes, ATVs, race vehicles, custom builds
Fitment Universal — compact form, choose by CC range
BMS Cell balancing only — no over-discharge protection
RE-START No — not included in Small Case series
Accessories OK? Not recommended — use RE-START for street

Small Case Size-by-CC Reference

General guidelines — always verify with the battery finder for your specific application.

Model Max Engine Size Typical Applications Type
AG-401 Up to 450cc Small dirt bikes, 250–450cc enduro & MX Small Case
AG-801 Up to 750cc Mid-size MX/enduro, 600–750cc street bikes (race use) Small Case
AG-1201 Up to 1200cc Large enduro, supermoto, race cars up to ~1200cc Small Case
AG-1601 Up to 1800cc Large displacement bikes, race applications to 1800cc Small Case
ATZ-Series OEM spec (RS/HD) Stock & mildly modified street, ATV, snowmobile replacements RE-START

Important — Small Case & Older Bikes: Small Case batteries do not have over-discharge or over-charge protection. They are not recommended for street bikes or vehicles with accessories. Harley-Davidson and pre-1990s bikes with old voltage regulators can spike above 24V — this can cause thermal runaway on any unprotected lithium battery. If your bike is pre-1990 or has a suspect voltage regulator, use a RE-START battery or upgrade the regulator first.

Common Questions

Antigravity Battery FAQ

Everything you need to know about lithium powersports batteries, RE-START technology, and proper fitment.

RE-START is a built-in emergency jump-start system. If the battery drains from a parasitic draw or forgotten lights, press the red RE-START button for 3 seconds to release a reserved power reserve for one more engine start. After starting, ride at least 15 minutes to recharge, then connect to a lithium-compatible charger as soon as possible.
Typically 60–80% lighter. A standard 6.6 lb lead-acid motorcycle battery is replaced by an Antigravity unit weighing around 2.5 lbs. On larger automotive Group sizes the weight difference can be 15–20 lbs — enough to noticeably change how a performance car or heavily modified bike handles.
RE-START RS — direct OEM drop-in for most stock and mildly modified street bikes with full BMS and RE-START jump-start. RE-START HD — same footprint as RS but larger internal cell pack, better for high-draw builds, adventure bikes, and performance cars. Small Case — ultra-compact race batteries for dirt bikes, ATVs, and competition use; have cell balancing but no full BMS and no RE-START. Not recommended for street use or vehicles with accessories.
No. Lead-acid chargers use a charging profile that can damage lithium cells or trigger the BMS to shut the battery down. You need a lithium-compatible (LiFePO4) charger. Antigravity's SC-4 Super-Charger is designed specifically for their batteries and supports 6V/12V lithium and 12V lead-acid profiles.
General guidelines: AG-401 up to 450cc, AG-801 up to 750cc, AG-1201 up to 1200cc, AG-1601 up to 1800cc. For custom or high-performance engines go up one size. For race cars, you can use as small as AG-1201 depending on displacement. Always use the battery finder above for vehicle-specific confirmation.
Antigravity lithium batteries routinely last 6–10 years with proper care — roughly 3–5× the service life of comparable lead-acid batteries. Lithium cells are rated for 2,000+ charge cycles versus approximately 1,000 for lead-acid. The BMS prevents the main causes of early battery death: over-discharge, cell imbalance, and voltage spikes.
Lithium batteries can deliver reduced cranking power below 14°F (−10°C). The BMS in RE-START batteries compensates for cold conditions better than basic lithium cells. In most real-world conditions, performance is comparable to lead-acid. In extreme northern winters with extended outdoor storage, allow the battery a few minutes to warm before starting.
Yes. Antigravity makes automotive-size lithium batteries in standard Group sizes — 24, 26, 27, 31, 35, 47, 48, 49 and more — for cars, trucks, boats, RVs, and UTVs. BatteriesInAFlash carries 29 automotive power applications and 5 recreational vehicle configurations from the Antigravity lineup.

Buyer's Guide

How to Choose Your Antigravity Battery

Four steps from "I need a new battery" to having the right lithium battery on the way.

1

Run the Battery Finder Above

Enter your year, make, and model in the battery finder. It will return every confirmed Antigravity fitment for your vehicle — no guessing required. If your vehicle is pre-1990 or not found, contact us for manual fitment assistance.

2

Choose RS, HD, or Small Case

For most street bikes and daily riders, RE-START RS is the right choice — direct drop-in with full protection. For bikes with extra accessories or modified charging demands, upgrade to RE-START HD. For race and off-road applications where minimum weight matters most, consider Small Case — but only if the vehicle runs without parasitic draw accessories.

3

Check Your Voltage Regulator (Older Bikes)

If your bike is pre-1990, a Harley-Davidson, or any older metric — check your voltage regulator first. Old regulators can spike above 14.8V, which will damage any lithium battery. If it hasn't been replaced recently, do it before installing the new battery. This is especially critical for Small Case batteries that lack over-charge protection.

4

Add the SC-4 Super-Charger

Never charge an Antigravity battery with a lead-acid charger. The SC-4 Super-Charger ($79.99) uses the correct lithium charging profile, supports 6V and 12V batteries, and will significantly extend your battery's service life. It's the one accessory you shouldn't skip.
