Selecting the Right Type of Airsoft Battery

Strategy gaming equipment, such as an airsoft gun, may require batteries to function. Owners can purchase different airsoft batteries for their gaming weapons including alkaline batteries, NiMH batteries and NiCad batteries as well as lithium ion and Li-poly batteries.

Alkaline Batteries

An alkaline airsoft battery offers a high capacity level. In addition, the model is available in non-chargeable and rechargeable versions. When airsoft gun owners select rechargeable alkaline batteries, they’ll have a power source that offers good capacity. However, the model’s recharging ability is limited. Rechargeable batteries do offer more voltage than other types of batteries, which means that multiple alkaline units will provide a high performance level. Keep in mind that the model requires a special charger. Also, airsoft gun owners may have trouble with alkaline batteries going dead. When using rechargeable alkaline batteries, be sure to keep them charged up as much as possible as it will make them last longer.

NiMH Batteries

Nickel-Metal Hydride, or NiMH, batteries offer airsoft gun owners plenty of power, and when the battery is charged, it will hold the power for a longer time than other battery types. In addition, NiMH power sources feature a variety of capacities. Be sure to review the batteries to buy the most powerful version. The battery style does feature a downside as NiMH batteries emit less voltage than alkaline batteries. In addition, the battery type will lose a charge quickly when it’s not being used regularly. The shelf life of a NiMH battery is about two to three months. With this type of battery, airsoft gun owners should run the power out of the battery completely before recharging it.

Purchase an electronically controlled charger to restore a NiMH battery’s power. For instance, a Delta Voltage Peak Charger will work effectively. Avoid overcharging the battery type and review the instructions to determine the maximum input amperage for different products.

NiCad Batteries

A Nickel-Cadmium, or NiCad, airsoft battery will last a long time. The battery style is also economic as it’s rechargeable. A NiCad battery is recommended for products that require a high discharge rate. The type is also ideal for devices that work well with less capacity. Keep in mind that NiCad batteries emit less voltage than alkaline batteries, so make sure that the power source has enough capacity. Consider purchasing a charger that will turn off automatically when the battery is at full power.

Lithium Ion Batteries

When airsoft gun owners choose a lithium ion battery, they will have a power source that offers a high capacity level. However, they are more expensive than other battery types. Furthermore, they are best for devices that drain batteries quickly. They are more efficient than other battery types, and lithium ion batteries charge while in the device that they are running. Charging units can also restore their power.

Li-poly Batteries

Li-poly batteries may be the best choice for airsoft guns as long as they feature the right battery pack. The battery style is light and available in various shapes. The most popular battery packs are the 7.4V and the 11.1V.

The Benefits of Selecting the Right Airsoft Battery

When airsoft gun owners select the right airsoft battery for their game playing needs, they may be able to complete their combat strategy more effectively.
